On the occasion of World Environment Day, Democritus University of Thrace is organizing an important two-day event in Xanthi, focusing on sustainability, innovation, and the connection between scientific knowledge and the needs of production and society. Titled "Water Resource Management and Climate Resilience in Agrifood" and "Innovative Plant Protection and the Environment," the event will take place on June 5-6, 2025, at the Civil Engineering Auditorium of DUTH in Xanthi.
This initiative is led by Democritus University of Thrace, the leading partner of the European Digital Innovation Hub in the Agrifood sector – DigiAgriFood. The event is co-organized by the Agrifood Partnership of AMTH, the Innovative Plant Protection project, as part of the InnoPP Flagship Action, and the EIT Food Hub Greece.
The event aims to serve as a platform for dialogue among research institutions, government officials, businesses, and people in the primary sector. Professors and researchers from DUTH, the Agricultural University of Athens, the University of Thessaly, the Benaki Institute, ELGO-DIMITRA, FORTH, and other organizations will present solutions for the future of agrifood: from smart management of natural resources to biological plant protection and digital technologies in agriculture.
Ιδιαίτερη θέση στο πρόγραμμα έχει η παρουσίαση των νέων Τμημάτων του Δ.Π.Θ. στη Δράμα: το Τμήμα Φυσικού Περιβάλλοντος και Κλιματικής Ανθεκτικότητας και το Τμήμα Αμπελουργίας και Οινολογίας, αναδεικνύοντας την επένδυση του πανεπιστημίου σε τομείς στρατηγικής σημασίας για την Περιφέρεια Ανατολικής Μακεδονίας και Θράκης.
Παράλληλα, στο φουαγιέ του Αμφιθεάτρου θα λειτουργεί χώρος παρουσίασης επιχειρήσεων και φορέων που δραστηριοποιούνται στον αγροδιατροφικό τομέα, δίνοντας την ευκαιρία σε γεωργικούς συμβούλους, γεωπόνους και συνεταιρισμούς να ενημερωθούν και να ανταλλάξουν εμπειρίες.
Δομή της εκδήλωσης
Πέμπτη 5 Ιουνίου
Ημέρα αφιερωμένη στο νερό, το κλίμα και τη γεωργία του μέλλοντος. Περιλαμβάνει θεματικές ενότητες για:
- Water resource management
- Climate resilience in agrifood
- Regenerative agriculture (in collaboration with EIT Food)
Μετά το μεσημέρι, πραγματοποιούνται δύο πρακτικά εργαστήρια:
- Utilizing agricultural waste for energy and water/nutrient recovery
- εξοικονόμηση νερού στην αλυσίδα «Νερό-Ενέργεια-Τροφή»
Παρασκευή 6 Ιουνίου
Εστίαση στην καινοτόμο φυτοπροστασία, τη βιοποικιλότητα και τις τεχνολογικές εφαρμογές:
- Presentation of new plant protection tools and smart solutions
- προβολή ερευνητικών έργων (όπως το Thrips)
- συμβολή του ΕΛΓΟ-Δήμητρα, του Μπενάκειου και του ΑΠΘ στην καταπολέμηση απειλών για τις καλλιέργειες
The second day will conclude with presentations from the Agrifood Partnership of AMTH, DigiAgriFood, and EIT Food Hub Greece.
Γιατί να συμμετάσχεις;
Γιατί η μετάβαση σε ένα βιώσιμο και ανθεκτικό αγροδιατροφικό σύστημα δεν είναι υπόθεση μόνο των ειδικών. Αφορά κάθε αγρότη, κάθε σύμβουλο, κάθε νέα ή υφιστάμενη επιχείρηση του τόπου μας. Και κυρίως, αφορά το περιβάλλον και το μέλλον όλων μας.
