On June 30, 2022, the Thinc – Thrace incubator, located on the 3rd floor of Building B at Vasilissis Sofias Street 12 in Xanthi, was inaugurated with a special ceremony.

In the presence of a large audience from the academic and business communities of the wider region, the inauguration ceremony of the Thinc – Thrace Incubator was held, officiated by the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Xanthi and Peritheorio, Mr. Panteleimon. The event was accompanied by a brief informational session, with the participation of the Deputy Minister of Research and Technology, Mr. Christos Dimas.

The event was greeted by the Rector of Democritus University of Thrace, Mr. Alexandros Polychronidis, and the Regional Governor of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, Mr. Christos Metios, who emphasized the support of this initiative by the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace.

Following that, the Vice Rector of Research & Lifelong Learning at Democritus University of Thrace and the Scientific Coordinator of the project, Mrs. Maria Michalopoulou, opened the session of presentations with a talk titled "Structures and Resources for Research and Innovation at Democritus University of Thrace."

Next, the presentation of the Thinc – Thrace incubator of Democritus University of Thrace was made by Mr. Michali Pouspourika, General Manager of the company FM Epicheirein, who, together with ena Development Consultants, are the founding organizations of Thinc.

The event concluded with a presentation by the Deputy Minister of Research and Technology, Mr. Christos Dimas, on the topic: "Research and Innovation." During his presentation, Mr. Dimas outlined all the actions of the Ministry of Development & Investments to support innovation and research, and he congratulated Democritus University of Thrace and all the stakeholders involved in the incubator project for their efforts.

The Thinc – Thrace incubator is the first purely academic business incubator in Northern Greece.
