At ena Development Consultants, we are proud to be part of the growth of the private sector in the region of Thrace — and more specifically, in Xanthi. We are especially pleased to have contributed to the upgrade of IKTEO Diagnosis, which operates in Xanthi (3rd km Xanthi – Kavala), through the utilization of the financial support tool of the NSRF 2014–2020. With the support of ena’s experienced team, the business IKTEO Diagnosis, owned by Ms. Kalaitzi, successfully secured approval under the action “Upgrading very small and small enterprises to develop their capacities in new markets” of the Operational Programme “Competitiveness, Entrepreneurship and Innovation (EPAnEK), NSRF 2014–2020”, receiving 50% funding of eligible expenses.
Through its participation in the above-mentioned funding action, the business was able to secure support for the purchase of software, printers, laptops, diagnostic instruments, cameras, energy-saving LED lighting, as well as promotional and marketing expenses — including the development of the company’s new website. In addition, the business expanded its range of services by appropriately upgrading its facilities to accommodate inspections of heavy-duty vehicles. Finally, the action also funded the creation of a new job position within the company.
As part of the creation of our new Business Story, the Marketing Department of ena had the pleasure of visiting IKTEO Diagnosis and speaking with the owner, Ms. Ioanna Kalaitzi. We had the opportunity to gain an inside look at the KTEO inspection process and learn how this business idea was born. Ms. Kalaitzi kindly and graciously answered a series of questions for us:
How did the idea for your business come about?
The idea emerged when new legislation created the opportunity to establish private vehicle inspection centers (KTEO). Having the right background through our family business — which was Express Service in Xanthi — I took advantage of this opportunity and invested in founding a KTEO.
How did ena Development Consultants and the ESPA funding contribute to the realization of your project?
My collaboration with ena Development Consultants was excellent. Evi works tirelessly for the businesses that place their trust in ena. She supports and guides us through these long and complex processes — like NSRF programs — making them much easier to navigate.
What makes your business stand out?
What truly sets our business apart is the way we treat our customers — not simply as clients, but as partners in safety. We are committed to ensuring that everyone who trusts us remains safe on the road. At IKTEO Diagnosis, the vehicle inspection process goes beyond a technical procedure. With our detailed checks, warm and friendly service, and the practical advice we offer, we turn each visit into an informative experience that promotes a culture of road safety and responsibility. We also discuss the inspection results with vehicle owners — we don’t just hand over data.
One innovation offered by IKTEO Diagnosis is that we use an electronic checklist via PDA containing all the necessary points that must be inspected on each vehicle. This means errors are avoided, the inspection process is faster, and at the same time, we significantly reduce paper waste.
Additionally, we offer a vehicle pick-up (delivery) service for our customers. This means that someone can book an appointment with our KTEO, and we will come to collect their vehicle and return it once the inspection is completed.
What difficulties did you encounter when establishing your business?
Customers, being accustomed to public KTEOs, were initially “afraid” and resistant to this change towards the private sector. It required a great effort to overcome this deeply rooted perception. Another major difficulty was repaying the large loan I took out to implement the investment.
What are your future plans for your business?
My future plans include the continuous upgrading of the software and inspection equipment we use, so that the checks are carried out as quickly and accurately as possible. However, we must not forget the human factor — the training and certification of our staff is an ongoing process in which we have invested over the years and will continue to invest in the future.
How did you promote your business in the beginning, and how do you do it now?
Back in 2008, when technology was not as advanced and widespread, I started promoting my newly established business through bus stops, on buses, large billboards on main streets, as well as in magazines, radio, and flyers.
Nowadays, since the digital world has become an integral part of our lives, I invest more in using social media, while still maintaining traditional advertising on the radio.
Would you participate again in an ESPA program?
Absolutely, I would participate in an ESPA program again — but only with ena, of course. μόνο με την ena φυσικά.
